Aivy’s Birthday

August 7, 2005

“ALVY 14″

Aivy knows how to have a happening birthday. A few years ago, we all were taken to T.G.I.Fridays and treated to Pirates of the Carribean. Last year, we had Cheeseburgers in Hawaii…this year, it was Chuck E. Cheese (I hate that mouse.)

It’s so great how my family can have a good time anywhere! We all had a blast. Thanks, Aivus! ;)

**I ran out of batteries for my camera so Mike took a lot of these with his camera phone. Good job, Chi 2!

“Orange” County Dinner

“Why is this bitter?”

This is actually a few weeks old now, but Bao keeps nagging me about it. :) A group of us had a funny themed dinner. This was the first one and it’s called the Orange County dinner…everything must be orange! The food was okay, but it was fun to see how creative everybody could get.

Wicked – The Broadway Musical

July 31, 2005

Wicked
“Defy Gravity.”

One word – awesome. This show has so much hype and it totally lived up to it. The story is so clever, the music is phenomenal. I loved it and I plan to see it again.

We started our evening at Blowfish Sushi and made it to the Pantages 5 minutes to curtain! I’m not going to say anymore because I don’t want to give anything away. Just watch the show! It’s going to be coming to the Orange County Performing Arts next year.

Afterwards, since Mike lost the credit card game (again) we met up with Jason in Santa Monica and got some drinks. I only had two drinks but I felt kind of sick. (I chugged a beer again Vil (so classy) and chased it with rum & coke.)

Another great night with my male harem! ;)

La Marche de L’Empereur (March of the Penguins)

July 28, 2005

March of the Penguins

“This story is about love.”

Call me a nerd, I don’t care! I was so excited to see this movie, just because I think penguins are just so cute. My buddy, Vil, and I met up after work to watch this at the Block. Surprisingly, the theater wasn’t completely empty.

This documentary was so cute. (Bao, you can’t make fun of me, you like those ocean documentaries!!) The most impressive part is just thinking of the things people will do for their craft. Everything those penguins has to endure, the crew had to endure. It’s amazing and so strenuous at the same time.

It’s just awesome. Look at that baby penguin! Awe!

Banging Party, Yo!

July 24, 2005

Ba Noi’s birthday party has to be the biggest event this family has. It was a full house this weekend at the Ngo resident. As usual, it was full of hilarious moments.

Quote of the Day: “It’s soOOOooooOooo, Linh!!!” – Aivy

24 Hours in Las Vegas

July 16, 2005

That’s all you need, folks!

bellagio

Mike, Vil, Bao and I took a random trip to Las Vegas Thursday night and right when we reached the Rio, lady luck was already there to greet us! The Rio couldn’t find Vil’s reservation, so we were upgraded into the nicest suite I ever stayed at Vegas (for $15 a person!)

Masquerade Suite
Each elegantly appointed Masquerade Suite features 1600 square feet and includes all the amenities of a Standard Suite and so much more:

* Breathtaking 180 degree View of the City from your suite
* Formal Dining Room with Wet Bar
* Master Bedroom with Jacuzzi Tub and Walk-in Shower
* Upgraded Sound System
* 1 1/2 Baths

Hahaha. That night we went to the Ghost Bar and the 21-year-old got wasted and we went back to our place around 4 a.m.

Friday we did Vegas. We visited almost all of the freaken casinos they have there, Vil won a lot of money (Monopoly rocks!), we had dinner at the Wynn (gotta love the fabric walls) and we drove back to Cali, Cali.

Best $1 spent: Chuck-a-Luck
Worst $7 spent: 16 International flavors of Coke

Highlights:

  • I went to last Vegas, and I brought: a magician, daisies, Thi.
  • Bunghole (nuff said)
  • Stateline game (Vil wins…again!)
  • Ward, Fat Ryan Carrera, and Buff Roger
  • Bao, you were tragic.
  • $10 for 2 Patron shots
  • “Surprise, surprise”
  • “Wanna Viper?”
  • “Can I have some water?” “No, no, no. That’s the Keno lady.”
  • Awe, how sad….Monica
  • 16 flavors of Coke
  • Chuck-a-luck — “Can I see your ID please?”
  • Fat Roger… No Buff Roger
  • Fat Ryan Cabera

His and her phone

July 8, 2005

After losing my phone at Disneyland, Thi and I decided to get a his and her phone. Here is our new Sony Ericsson s710a:

(This picture was taken using the phone’s camera)

This phone is pretty cool. It has a 1.3 megapixel camera, bluetooth, Java, and the feature that sold it to Thi, a Sony Memory Stick Duo slot.

Of course with anything, this phone has its share of quirks. One annoying quirk that we found was if a contact had a picture associated with it, it can’t be sent via bluetooth or infrared. Only way to work around it was to send the contacts via text messaging.

UPDATE 07/11/05 – Disneyland found my phone, but I decided that after 4 years, it is time to retire my “Matrix” phone and hope that the s710a will survive for the next 4 years.

Happy 4th of July!
